Building Capacity to Improve Immunization Systems: A Spotlight on Indonesia and Nigeria

AAP and the national pediatric societies of Indonesia and Nigeria have partnered with support from the CDC to nurture the unique role of in-country pediatricians and their pediatric societies to influence national immunization systems. By transforming clinical skills into advocacy skills focused on root problem identification and organizational capacity building, pediatricians can improve national immunization system outcomes.

This issue brief illustrates the roles pediatricians can play in promoting early childhood development (ECD) in clinical and community settings. It summarizes the science behind early childhood development, the Nurturing Care Framework, and actionable steps pediatricians can take to incorporate nurturing care for ECD.
